Adding Class With A Vintage Chandelier

One of the most stylish and elegant improvements you can make to your home, provided you have enough space, is to add a vintage iron chandelier. One great thing about the vintage chandelier is that it is never going to go out of fashion. People will use them to transform the interior of their homes to that of a Mediterranean villa or even a European castle. A chandelier like his is very strong and if it looked after it wont be effected by corrosion and can last forever.

You will be able to find a range of different sizes when looking for a vintage iron chandelier to suit large spaces like dining and living rooms or smaller narrow hallways and porches. When it is heated iron is probably one of the most flexible and malleable metals there is, this makes it easy to shape into any design you can think of.

Before you go out chandelier shopping you need to plan where the light is going to be hung and take measurements of the area. There should be several inches of space between the widest point of the chandelier and the closest wall. If the lights are too close to the wall they car fade wallpaper and even burn it, in some cases they have started fires. You will also want to check out the support offered in the area you want to hang the light. Even small chandeliers will weight a fair amount, so only fix it to a main support in the ceiling. If you don’t use the proper fixing it could prove costly or dangerous.

Iron chandeliers are usually pretty simple to keep clean. Warm water mixed with some mild detergent and a touch of baking soda will take care of any problems you might have. The cloth you use for cleaning should only be mildly damp and the fixture should be dried when you are done, this is very important if you live in a humid climate.
