No matter how well prepared you are for your camping trip, there are several items that you really need. A sleeping bag liner is one of these. Being outdoors means you’re going to be sweatier and grimier than usual, especially if you’re hauling heaving camping gear like a large tent around. You don’t want to limit your activities during the day, but you do want a clean, dry place to sleep at night. Your sleeping bag is an investment and one of the most important pieces of camping equipment that you own. You want to keep it comfortable and prolong its life.

The loft of a sleeping bag, technically the amount of volume per ounce, is what makes it warm and fluffy. Regardless of whether this filling consists of down or synthetic fibers, exposing it to perspiration, dirt, and body oils inhibits its function. The areas of the bag that usually suffer the most are the top and bottom parts.

It’s not unusual for the head and face to get oily during outdoor activities. The feet do your trekking along the trails; they’re going to perspire and pick up grime along the way. By using a sleeping bag liner, you will not only protect your sleeping bag from moisture and dirt, but you won’t need to wash it as often either. This will prolong the life of the bag and help to maintain its loft.

You have several options when choosing a liner. Among these are Slumberjack SlumberWick, Mummy Sleeping Bag Liner, Outbound Silk Sleeping Bag Liner (rectangular), and Ledmark Industries Sleeping Bag Liner (poly/cotton).

The choice of a liner is really based on personal preference. Silk liners are comfortable but they can quickly become sticky when absorbing body oil and perspiration. Cotton liners retain moisture and don’t dry out as quickly as some other fabrics.

Clothing worn during the day may feel dry and still contain perspiration. In addition to adding a liner to your bag, make sure you change into clean clothes before going to bed. Your body and your sleeping bag will thank you!

The makers of the Vango tent understand the chief motivating factor behind the family camping trip, i.e. the head of the family wants to relax. He or she hopes to live a relatively stress free life, for at least a short time. Vango’s designers have created products that satisfy that motivating factor. They are easy to pitch tents, many of which have a funnel structure. In addition, theses tented structures come with a number of other important features.

Each of Vango’s family tents has a flexible configuration, so that a group of related campers, all of different ages, can provide older children with a certain amount of privacy. Each of these tented structures also offers varied storage options, including hanging storage. In addition, the mesh doors act like a screen, and thus reduce chances for a flying insect to come inside. The color coded poles facilitate the sometimes complicated yet necessary set up procedures.

Now, as a family expands, it can expect to need some sort of Vango tent extension. There are canopies designed for both the Artemis and Icarus 600. Vango’s team has even created a new type of canopy. Called the Premium Extension, this product allows for addition of a new front door. When a camper gets caught in inclement weather, that door can allow entrance to needed protection. The Tunnel Extension lacks a door, but it transforms a simple canopy into a useful storage area.

As children in a family of campers get older, there is bound to come a time when one or more teenager, plus perhaps a friend or two could use a Vango Tempest 350 Tent. Each of these three man structures has a combination porch area/ living space. At the same time, the two man Vango Tempest 200 Tent features a number of important characteristics.

It is made with a lightweight but sturdy Hytex polyester material. It comes with a TBS tension band system. Moreover, it provides the campers with powerflex alloy poles. That combination of features explains the praise given to this particular product, and its high rating in the published Vango tents reviews. This tent is not your typical tunnel tent your children used to play in the basement with. This is a high quality tent.
