Creating Theme Bedrooms for Teenagers
You might think that bedroom themes for teenagers just include messy and messier. Instead, you can really help create a cohesive and functional space. This can be an opportunity for you and your teen to get on the same page and do a few decorating projects together. It’s also one of the first times that they are really going to be able to express their personality through their own decor. Probably throughout their lives up to this point you’ve probably done all of the decorating. This is really a teaching and learning opportunity that can be very enjoyable.
Bright colors are very popular in teenagers’ bedrooms. This is especially true for girls. You will want to find more subtle ways to incorporate these kinds of color just because these rooms can be so small. For instance, if you’re going for a tropical feeling then you could just use a white or taupe color wall. Then bring in a lime green and aqua bedding set. It might even have a fun retro tropical print on it. This can be really sophisticated or bright and cheerful. You want to make sure that when you use a more elegant look in the spaces. However, you also still need to make sure that everything has a youthful air just so that it doesn’t end up feeling like grandma’s house. At the same time you need to be sure that there is a certain level of sophistication just so that it doesn’t end up feeling like a nursery or a little girl’s room.
The theme can also focus in on a specific time period. For instance you could really have a lot of fun with retro prints. You will want to keep these updated just so everything feels fresh and new. Bring in a lot of chocolate browns and turquoises. This will be in keeping with what is going on in the fashion world, but you can easily translate it into decorating.
