Product Review: Benetton Perfume, Essence of Benetton Man
This is the masculine version of a couple of perfumes which were launched in 2008, whose characteristic is to use recurrent ideas of Benetton’s advertisement, like the rainbow colors of the bottle. The official notes for this fragrance are: ice tea, cardamom, mandarin, pineapple, nutmeg, lavender, woods, musk and amber.
The opening is very dry, accompanied by a green lemon, or a different citrus, with traces of green Mediterranean herbs, which develop as minutes pass and make this fragrance less dry. In the middle phase the green notes tend towards ginger and lavender, with spicy notes of nutmeg, mixing with the citrus of the beginning. This mix of fresh and spicy reminds of Mugler cologne by Thierry Mugler (one of the few fragrances outside the Angel perfume family) an unisex perfume.
At times the mix of spices, citrus cologne, and light lavender, also remind of CK Be and CK One by Calvin Klein.
In the final notes there is a very light and watery mixture, with traces of remaining spices; lavender and ginger, within a classic masculine frame.
Although the beginning gives the impression of a generic fragrance, in its middle phase it improves considerably, taking in more personality. The fresh aroma is perfect for a daily use, especially after gym. In the office this Essence perfume by Benetton gives a clear image, thanks to the soapy notes (another thing in common with Mugler cologne). Its classic structure can endure an evening use also in semi-informal situations. On the romantic side, it’s an easy to forget perfume, and it lacks of particularly seductive notes, although it has a solid enough structure to be pleasant from a short distance. The ideal age range, it being a young fragrance, is between 20 and 45 years.
