Should I Buy a Wireless Security System?
One of the biggest decisions that you’ll have to make when choosing a security system for your home is whether to opt for an outdoor wireless security camera or for a more traditional wired CCTV camera. There are pros and cons to installing both types of cameras and only you will be able to decide what is best for you and your home.
First, if you want a system that is as easy to install as possible, opt for a wireless system. Wireless systems have no cables to run, so all that’s required of you is to plug it in, turn on your receiver and the camera and the receiver will automatically find each other and begin broadcasting images. Unfortunately, while you don’t have to run any wires to the receiver, you still have to run wires from a power socket to the camera. This will still somewhat limit where you can place the camera. Wireless cameras are also prone to picking up interference from other home appliances and electronics
If you don’t mind dealing with some initial installation hassles, a CCTV will be more secure and reliable over the long term. You won’t have to worry about noise from other appliances or the weather as you do with wireless cameras, making them more reliable. They’re also more secure, as anyone nearby can see your wireless signal if you don’t put the proper encryption on it.
Which security system is right for you will depend on many things, from the quality of the picture you want to how comfortable you are at running the cords around your home that are necessary.
