The Birth of the Space Wolves
Space wolves are featured in Warhammer 40k. It is a table top war game created by Game Workshop. They were part of the famous Space Marine Legions led by Primarch Leman Russ. Its leader Leman Russ grew up in the world of Fenris, a distant snow covered planet where warlike human tribes dwell. Leman Russ was raised by the Fenrisian wolves that reside in this deadly world. Somehow came a time when he was discovered by the King of Russ, Thengir.
The wolves were exterminated by the group organized by Thengir. Leman was then captured and later on adopted by the King of Russ. He was thought how a man should live and further on he became a great warrior. Upon the death of his adoptive father, he became the new leader of the Fenris tribe. He fought and won many wars, gaining victory for his adopted people.
The Emperor of Mankind heard of Leman’s exploits and traveled far to Fenris. He was amazed with Leman’s accomplishments and victories that he believed that such exploits can only be achieved by a Primarch. But Leman needs to be conquered first before he will pay homage to the Emperor. He challenged the monarch to a series competition to find out who is better between the two of them. The challenges involve a contest in eating, drinking and fist-fighting. In the first two categories, Leman was victorious however he failed to win in the third. Intoxicated with liquor, Leman was very disappointed with his attempt to win in the third category.
However, after taking stock he assaulted the emperor ferociously. To which, the emperor was able to prove a doubt that played in his mind. Such display of superhuman speed, power and skill could only be possessed by one of his sons. The emperor after launching a power fist that could have knocked dead a lesser man, finally defeated Leman. Somehow after gaining consciousness the young man admitted defeat grudgingly. Then the emperor put Leman in command of the VI Space Marine Legion which he then renamed the Space Wolves army, thus, the birth of the Space Wolves. A saga that portrays the mission of the Great Crusade to reunite humanity.
