They can indeed make you or destroy you. Acting agents gets you projects and negotiates a good deal for you. Without an agent, it will be hard for you to get the projects that you want despite how well you are in your field. So what do acting agents really do?

  • When you have legal and financial disagreement with major studios then your acting agent is the one to negotiate and help solve any problems regarding contracts, and other financial and legal matters. Your acting agent definitely knows how to handle such situation that is what they are for.
  • The benefit of having an agent is that they can place you to a lot of auditions giving you lots of chances to get cast on different roles in different film company. Besides they are given a list of roles available in every studio so that they can always present you to the right casting directors.

Just make sure that you get an agent that is a member of SAG and know that an agent usually takes ten to fifteen percent off as a fee. Any amount higher than that is thing to think about. Better stay away from it because that agent might not just legal and you are scam.
